Famagusta Municipality Takes Action Against Illegal Sewage Discharge
Famagusta Mayor Süleyman Uluçay has made it clear that sewage waste from different cities will no longer be allowed to be discharged within the borders of Famagusta using vacuum trucks.
The municipality issued a statement addressing the ongoing issue of sewage waste from other cities being dumped into Famagusta, causing discomfort among residents.
In response to this problem, Famagusta Municipality teams fined a private company’s sewage tanker 33,926 TL (equivalent to 1 gross minimum wage) for illegally discharging sewage waste within the municipality’s borders.
Mayor Uluçay assured the public that such actions will not be tolerated, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to preventing environmental disasters in the region by prohibiting the dumping of sewage waste in Famagusta.
Consultations with other municipalities and authorities, including the Famagusta District Governorate, will continue to address this issue and ensure the protection of the city’s environment.
Residents can rest assured that measures are being taken to preserve the cleanliness and well-being of Famagusta, with a strict stance against illegal sewage disposal.
