Protecting the Future: BRTK’s Mission for Young Generations
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel led an important meeting at the Prime Ministry to discuss the significance of drug tests in traffic on the “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.” The meeting was attended by Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz, Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek, General Director of Police Kasım Kuni, Head of the Prime Ministry Anti-Drug Commission Teyfide Tecel Hatipoğlu, First Deputy Director General of Police Ali Adalıer, and Turkish Cypriot Doctor Dr. Teoman Sırrı who resides in England.
During the meeting, Dr. Sırrı highlighted the dangers of drug use in traffic, providing examples of practices in England. He emphasized the negative effects of drug use on drivers with scientific data and stressed the importance of regular tests to ensure safety on the roads. Prime Minister Üstel emphasized the vital role of drug tests in maintaining traffic safety in the TRNC, especially in protecting younger generations and promoting social peace.
Üstel affirmed the government’s dedication to combating drug abuse until the end, acknowledging the global prevalence of drug trafficking and its impact on Cyprus. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for drug testing for drivers in the country and reiterated the commitment to fighting drug abuse, particularly among young people. He stressed the importance of awareness, collaboration with various stakeholders, and providing support for rehabilitation and treatment for individuals struggling with addiction.
Participants at the meeting praised Üstel’s unwavering stance against drugs, with General Director of Police Kasım Kuni highlighting the police’s role in the fight against drugs and Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek underscoring the health implications of drug tests.
