Hamza Onat: The Farmer Who Raised 10 Professionals
Living in the Kadıköy village of the district, Hamza Onat is a farmer who has dedicated 40 years of his life to farming despite the challenges. His experience has allowed him to not only cultivate fruits and vegetables in different parts of the village each year, but also to maintain beehives in his own garden. Through his hard work, Onat has successfully educated his 10 children and provided them with professions.
Recently, Yüksekova District Agriculture and Forestry Director Mehmet Emin Yiğit paid a visit to Onat to congratulate him on his farming success and dedication.
“I worked relentlessly, I made 10 of my children professionals,” Onat proudly stated. At 69 years old, he shared his love for farming as a profession and his deep attachment to his village. With nearly 200 acres of land, Onat tirelessly plants each year and tends to over 20 different fruit trees in his garden. He emphasized the importance of working the land and becoming self-sufficient, stating that he never needs to rely on outside resources as he gets everything from his garden.
Onat’s greatest achievement lies in the success of his children. He proudly shared, “I educated my children and ensured they all had professions. Four of them are doctors, three are teachers, two are architects, and one is an engineer. I am overjoyed to see them thriving in their careers. I wish everyone the opportunity to experience this kind of success.”
