Severe snowfall leads to school closures in multiple provinces in Turkey
As heavy snow and adverse weather conditions continue to affect various provinces and districts in Turkey, authorities have made the decision to suspend educational activities for one day to ensure the safety of students and education personnel. This measure, taken due to reasons such as heavy snow, icy roads, and low temperatures, has been announced by local authorities who are closely monitoring weather and road conditions.
Several provinces, including Trabzon, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bayburt, Yozgat, Elazig, Konya, Tunceli, Erzincan, Aksaray, Zonguldak, Giresun, Adana, Samsun, Bolu, Yalova, Sinop, Düzce, Niğde, Kayseri, Sivas, Hakkari, Nevşehir, Ordu, Gümüşhane, and more, have reported closures in schools due to the severe weather conditions.
In Konya, for example, the Halkapınar, Hadim, and Doğanhisar districts saw interruptions in school activities on February 6 due to heavy snowfall. Similarly, schools in various districts of other provinces have also been affected, leading to administrative leave for pregnant, disabled, and chronic personnel working in public institutions.
As the weather conditions continue to pose risks to transportation and safety, local authorities continue to provide updates and information regarding school closures to citizens.
