Push for Maraş Initiative and Goodwill Tax Law Continues

Erhan Arıklı, Chairman of the Rebirth Party (YDP) and Minister of Public Works and Transportation, has called for the continuation of the Maraş opening, the return of properties belonging to Greeks in Maraş, and the enactment of a Goodwill Tax Law to promote the Turkification of Greek properties in the northern part of Cyprus.

Arıklı made these remarks following an information meeting held by President Ersin Tatar with the heads of political parties represented in the Republican Assembly. He also mentioned a meeting that took place in London between President Tatar and UN Secretary General Personal Representative Maria Angela Holguin.

During the meeting, Arıklı discussed recent incidents involving the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus and expressed the party’s views on the matter to President Tatar.

The views presented by YDP were outlined by Arıklı under four key headings. These include the need to enhance the resources and effectiveness of the Immovable Property Commission (IMC), the enactment of a Goodwill Tax Law to prevent the Turkification of Greek properties in the north, allowing individuals with Greek property in the north to purchase directly from the owner, and advocating for the return of properties belonging to Greeks in Maraş.

Arıklı emphasized that the party will continue to advocate for these issues on various platforms, including the Council of Ministers. As discussions and initiatives surrounding the properties of Greeks in the northern part of Cyprus continue, the YDP remains committed to addressing these important issues.
