Qassam Brigades Claim Responsibility for Killing 15 Israeli Soldiers in West Gaza
The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for killing 15 Israeli soldiers from zero distance in the Javazat region in the west of Gaza City. This announcement was made in a written statement by the Qassam mujahideen.
In addition to the attack on the Israeli soldiers, the statement also mentioned targeting an armored carrier belonging to the Israeli army with a Yasin-105 rocket.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas escalated on October 7, 2023, with Hamas launching a comprehensive attack in response to what they perceived as continuous violations against Palestinians and sacred values, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The toll of the conflict has been significant, with Israel reporting 1,200 deaths and 5,132 injuries among its citizens, while at least 27,131 Palestinians, including 11,500 children and 8,000 women, have been killed, and 66,287 others have been injured. The destruction of civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and educational institutions, has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis.
The Israeli army has lost 561 soldiers, with 224 deaths occurring during the land invasion process. A temporary ceasefire in November 2023 led to the release of 81 Israeli and 240 Palestinian prisoners, but thousands of Palestinians remain detained by Israel.
The conflict has also extended to the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, where 381 Palestinians have lost their lives in attacks by Israeli forces and illegal Jewish settlers. Meanwhile, the border clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah have resulted in the deaths of 30 Lebanese civilians, 176 Hezbollah members, 6 Israeli civilians, and 10 Israeli soldiers since October 8, 2023.
The ongoing violence in the region continues to have a devastating impact on both Israeli and Palestinian communities, with no clear end in sight to the cycle of conflict and suffering.
