Qatar Announces Nine Investment Projects in Kazakhstan
The Mazhilis, Kazakhstan’s lower house of Parliament, has approved an agreement with Qatar to establish a long-term strategic partnership for the development of projects in priority sectors. This agreement, originally made in Doha on March 20, will see the implementation of nine investment projects in Kazakhstan, as reported by the Mazhilis’ press service.
Among the projects to be carried out are the construction of three gas processing plants, the second phase of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline, the new KS-14 compressor station, and the KS-14-Kostanai gas pipeline. These initiatives are expected to increase Kazakhstan’s domestic commercial gas production by 18%.
Additionally, Qatar will support the construction of a combined-cycle power plant in the Kyzylorda Region and a hydroelectric power station on the Yertis River. The partnership aims to collaborate on projects in telecommunications, finance, energy, petrochemicals, and other sectors. Qatari companies are anticipated to invest nearly $20 billion in these new ventures, according to the Khabar News Agency.
This partnership between Kazakhstan and Qatar signifies a significant step towards mutual economic development and cooperation in various key areas.
