Quickly Strikes Twice: Vanda Hit by 3.6 and 4.1 Magnitude Earthquakes

Two earthquakes of 3.6 and 4.1 magnitude hit the district of Tusba in Van, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

The first earthquake, measuring 3.6 magnitude, occurred at 11.39 hours and was felt in the city center and surrounding districts. The tremor caused some panic among residents in the area.

Just 19 minutes later, a stronger earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 shook Tusba. The depth of this earthquake was measured at 4.42 kilometers. Despite causing some citizens to come out of their homes, there were no reported injuries or damages following the earthquakes.

One resident, Ibrahim Abi, described the experience saying, “It was very violent. I was in my vehicle at the time, and I got out when it started shaking. I was quite afraid.”

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
