Quran Drops: Calligraphy Exhibition Opens at Taksim Mosque Culture and Art Center

The Taksim Mosque Islamic Education Culture and Art Foundation recently held an exhibition featuring the talented artist Vural, who showcased his own musical compositions to the attendees. The event, attended by President Altan Elmas and various figures from the cultural and artistic world, received a lot of attention.
Vural, in a statement, revealed that most of the works in the exhibition were written in drop form, bringing together verses from the surahs of the Quran that he had collected over the years. Titled “Quran Drops,” the exhibition features 42 unique works aimed at encouraging interaction with the Quran and its meanings.
To help visitors better understand the verses in the artworks, QR codes were placed on the label section, allowing them to follow along with the verses recited by the hafiz and their translations. The exhibition also includes works in various techniques, such as circular forms and classical celi thuluth calligraphy done with different colored inks.
One notable piece in the exhibition is a work called Jerusalem, which, when viewed from the front, displays the silhouette of the Dome of the Rock. The proceeds from this particular piece will be donated to support those in need in Palestine and Gaza.
The exhibition, which features a diverse range of calligraphy styles and techniques, such as marbling akkase sheets created using acrylic zerendut technique, will be open for visitors to explore until March 7. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of Quranic calligraphy and support a noble cause at the same time.
