Racist Threats Target 3 German Mosques with Package Deliveries
Racist Threats and Insults Sent to Turkish Mosques in Germany
Several mosques affiliated with the Religious Affairs Turkish-Islamic Union (DİTİB) in Germany have received packages containing racist threats and insults in both Turkish and German languages. These packages also contained burnt pages of the Quran, pork meat, and feces.
The targeted mosques were the Castrop-Rauxel Mevlana Mosque, which received the package on Friday, October 27; the Recklinghausen Central Mosque, which received it on Saturday, October 28; and the Bochum Central Mosque, which received it on Monday, October 30.
A criminal complaint has been filed against the individuals responsible for sending these packages.
Expressing their deep sadness over the incident, the presidents of the DİTİB Bochum Central Mosque, DİTİB Recklinghausen Central Mosque, and DİTİB Castrop-Rauxel Mevlana Mosque issued a joint statement condemning the attacks on mosques. They stated that they will not waver in their dignified and sensible stance against such provocations. The mosques’ presidents also expressed concern for both their community and the larger society, emphasizing that the continuation of these attacks could have serious repercussions. They called for the swift apprehension and punishment of the perpetrator(s) involved.
This incident showcases the importance of promoting tolerance and unity in a diverse society, as such hateful acts only serve to further divide communities. Authorities must take swift action to ensure that the individuals responsible for these despicable acts are held accountable and justice is served.
