Rain Stops Traffic in Istanbul

Heavy rain causes traffic congestion and accidents in Istanbul
Intermittent rain in districts such as Fatih, Zeytinburnu, Bakırköy, Bahçelievler, Sultangazi, and Küçükçekmece on the European Side of Istanbul has led to traffic chaos. The rain occasionally turned into sleet at higher points in the city, further complicating road conditions.
The D-100 highway from the Golden Horn Bridge to Avcılar direction experienced heavy traffic congestion due to the rain. Traffic also came to a halt at the TEM Highway Esenyurt location and the O-3 highway Otogar-Hal and Sultangazi-Arnavutköy connection points.
On the Anatolian Side, heavy traffic was reported in both directions between Kadıköy and Kartal on the D-100 highway. Vehicles on the TEM Highway towards Edirne were moving slowly between Ataşehir and Sancaktepe.
In addition to main arteries, side roads also faced congestion, with passengers crowded at some public transportation stops. The rain also led to several damaging traffic accidents, including an incident where an electric pole fell on Kağıthane Street.
Authorities advise drivers to exercise caution and be prepared for delays during inclement weather conditions. Stay updated on traffic alerts and plan your journeys accordingly to ensure a safe and smooth commute.
