Ranking of Hungarian Counties: The Best and Worst Places to Live

A recent survey conducted by Money center has revealed the happiest and least happy Hungarian counties, shedding light on key factors influencing overall satisfaction. The study, based on responses from nearly 11,000 participants, highlighted that age, marital status, occupation, and financial stability significantly affect happiness levels. Hungarians reported feeling slightly better in 2024 compared to the previous year, with happiness being crucial for societal and economic well-being.
The survey found that Somogy and Vas counties lead the happiness rankings, while Nógrád consistently ranks last. Factors such as gender, age, and marital status also play a role, with women, older individuals, married people, and those with children reporting higher levels of happiness. Entrepreneurship also emerged as a source of greater happiness compared to public sector employment.
Healthcare and financial security were identified as key determinants of happiness in Hungary. Despite facing challenges in public health, satisfaction with healthcare has slightly improved in some regions. Financially, regions with higher average incomes reported greater contentment, with education and occupation also influencing financial security levels.
While Hungary has seen improvements in certain aspects affecting happiness, there is still room for progress. By addressing issues such as healthcare access and financial stability, Hungarian counties can continue to drive overall satisfaction and well-being among residents.
