Rapid Response to 5 Million Lira Extortion in Istanbul
A shocking incident took place in the Seyitnizam District of Zeytinburnu, Istanbul on Wednesday afternoon. A person who had withdrawn 5 million lira from a bank was mugged by two armed men as he was getting into his car. The entire ordeal was captured on a security camera.
Two suspicious individuals followed the victim from the bank and eventually stole the bags of money as he got into his car. Although a passerby tried to intervene and stop the robbers, they managed to escape. However, the police were notified by onlookers and they swiftly arrived at the scene. After examining the surveillance footage, the authorities were able to identify the suspects and successfully arrested them.
Yakup Bay, a local shopkeeper, recounted that he saw the entire incident unfold. According to Bay, the robbers were armed and aggressively snatched the money from the victim’s hands before fleeing the scene.
This unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the importance of taking safety precautions, especially when dealing with large sums of money in public places.
