President Ersin Tatar Prepares for Informal Dinner with Greek Cypriot Leader in New York
President Ersin Tatar is gearing up for an important meeting with Greek Cypriot Leader Nikos Hristodulidis in New York. The informal tripartite dinner, hosted by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, is expected to last approximately 2 hours, after which President Tatar will address the press.
President Tatar, who will be leaving New York to return to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, emphasized the importance of dialogue and communication. He plans to reiterate his commitment to official negotiations with the recognition of sovereign equality and equal international status.
During the dinner, President Tatar will address key issues such as direct flights, direct trade, and direct contact to overcome the embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriots. He will also highlight areas of potential cooperation with the Greek side, including energy, water, irregular migration, cultural heritage, and the economy.
President Tatar aims to foster positive relations between the two communities and work towards a peaceful resolution to longstanding conflicts.
