Recipients Announced for EMU 5th International Nurten Aksugür Best Concept Communication Student Competition Awards at BRTK

The fifth edition of the “International Nurten Aksugür Best Concept Communication Student Competition” was recently held by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture, and the Aksugür family. This competition saw a total of 51 projects from 20 universities across 9 different countries participating, thanks to the sponsorship of the Aksugür family.

Judging the competition projects were esteemed members of the EMU Faculty of Architecture, including Assoc. Dr. Afet C. Coşkun, Asst. Assoc. Dr. Özlem Olgaç Türker, Prof. Dr. Erdal Aksugür, Prof. Dr. Sevinç Kurt, Dr. Elif E. Türkkan, Dr. Eliz Erdenizci, and Pembe Command. The top three winners of the competition were Simar Güney from Istanbul Technical University, İrem Özdemir from MEF University, and Görkem Kaya from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.

Gratitude was expressed by EMU Faculty of Architecture Academic Member Assoc. Dr. Guita Farivarsadri and Dr. Eliz Erdenizci to all those who contributed to the success of the competition. The diversity of participation from various parts of the world was highlighted as a significant achievement. Assoc. Dr. Coşkun emphasized that the competition serves as a platform for Interior Architecture students to freely express themselves and showcase their talents.

The competition, which is held in memory of Prof. Dr. Nurten Aksugür who was the founder of EMU’s Interior Architecture Department, aims to emphasize the importance of the conceptual dimension of design and effective communication among students. This event continues to encourage and inspire students in the field of Interior Architecture to strive for excellence in their work.
