Water Product Exports from Eastern Black Sea Region Reach New Heights

Saffet Kalyoncu, Chairman of the Board of Eastern Black Sea Exporters’ Association, has announced that water products from the region were exported to 14 countries in the first month of the year.

In January 2025, a total of 980 tons of water products were sold from the Eastern Black Sea, generating a revenue of 7 million 380 thousand 792 dollars from exports.

Kalyoncu highlighted that the Russian Federation led the exports with 3 million 854 thousand 405 dollars, followed by the United States with 2 million 31 thousand 795 dollars and Vietnam with 308 thousand 254 dollars.

Most of the exports, 92 percent to be exact, originated from Trabzon. Kalyoncu revealed that 869 tons of water products were exported from Trabzon to 12 countries in January 2025, bringing in a total income of 6 million 771 thousand 827 dollars.

The top three countries for exports from Trabzon were the Russian Federation, the United States, and Japan. Kalyoncu noted that in comparison to the same period last year, there was an increase in exports to Belarus and the Netherlands in addition to the traditional markets.

Emphasizing Trabzon’s aquaculture potential, Kalyoncu expressed optimism about the future of aquaculture exports from the region and the possibility of achieving even higher levels of success in the coming years.
