Recovered Assets Fund New Hematology Center in Oskemen

The Kazakh government has allocated returned illegally acquired assets from the Special State Fund to finance the construction and commissioning of the Hematology Center in Oskemen, with a total worth of 33.6 billion tenge (US$66.7 million).

This new medical institution will consist of two buildings, a hospital with 148 beds and a 24-bed hotel for patients receiving treatment. The main building will be equipped with modern medical equipment for various departments specializing in radiology, cardiology, cardiac surgery, hematology, bone marrow transplantation, and complex somatics. The center aims to provide advanced treatment and rehabilitation methods to its patients, as reported by the Prime Minister’s press service on March 20.

With a total project cost of 71.3 billion tenge (US$141.5 million), the facility is currently 78% complete. The construction progress includes the erection of the frame, connection of external utility networks, preparation of the roof, facade, and window units, as well as partial completion of interior decoration.

The government’s focus on enhancing healthcare infrastructure is evident in their efforts to complete 361 primary healthcare facilities by the end of 2024 as part of the Modernization of Rural Healthcare National Project. This initiative aims to improve access to medical services in remote and rural areas for residents.

Furthermore, funds from the Special State Fund have been allocated for the construction of various socially significant facilities across the country. These include schools, a music school, sports complexes, a stadium, a hospital complex, a regional ambulance station, a Center for the Provision of Special Social Services, hostels, kindergartens, and the construction and modernization of water supply systems in the Aralsk district of the Kyzylorda Region.

Overall, the allocation of funds for the Hematology Center in Oskemen and other healthcare infrastructure projects reflects the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services and facilities for the benefit of the Kazakh population.
