Red Cross convoy departs Israel’s Offer Prison with Palestinian prisoners
The town of Beytunia was filled with anticipation as Palestinian prisoners were released in the second round of the captive exchange. However, the mood quickly turned tense as Israeli military jeeps and construction machinery raided the town, removing Palestinians from the area.
Despite the chaos, the Red Cross convoy managed to move from Beytunia to Manara Square, where Palestinian prisoners in Ramallah were set to be delivered. In this exchange, Hamas released 200 Palestinian prisoners in return for the release of four Israeli women in Gaza.
In another development, according to Egyptian state television reported by The Times of Israel, 70 Palestinian prisoners who were released from Ketziot Prison in southern Israel and are set to be deported, crossed the Welfare Border Gate and reached the Egyptian side.
This captive exchange has once again highlighted the ongoing tensions and complexities in the region, as both Israelis and Palestinians navigate the delicate balance of peace and conflict.
