Rejecting Discrimination: BRTK Calls for an End to Pro-Greek Bias
President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has once again called on the UN, the EU, the USA, and other powers to fulfill their promises made during the referendum process regarding the Annan Plan. Speaking on the 20th anniversary of the referendum held on April 24, 2004, President Tatar highlighted the failures and injustices faced by the Turkish Cypriot people following the referendum.
In his statement, President Tatar reiterated the Turkish side’s commitment to finding a solution to the Cyprus problem and emphasized the need for the international community to recognize the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. He criticized the discriminatory and pro-Greek attitudes of the UN, EU, USA, and other powers, which have continued to punish the Turkish Cypriots with cruel embargoes.
President Tatar also highlighted the importance of the new national policy supported by Motherland Turkey, which aims to strengthen the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and protect its sovereignty. He praised the efforts of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in calling for the recognition of the TRNC on the international stage, as well as the increasing cooperation with the Organization of Turkic States.
Despite the ongoing challenges and obstacles, President Tatar remains steadfast in his commitment to pursuing a solution based on the existence of two separate, sovereign, and equal states in Cyprus. He called on the Greek Cypriot side to abandon its anti-solution stance and engage positively with the proposals put forward by the Turkish side.
As the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus continues to grow stronger with the support of Motherland Turkey, President Tatar urged the Turkish Cypriot people to remain vigilant against new games and empty promises. He emphasized the importance of unity and determination in the face of ongoing challenges and reiterated his call to the international community to fulfill their promises and end their discriminatory and pro-Greek attitudes towards Cyprus.
