Azerbaijani President Releases East Caucasian Turs and Falcons Into the Wild
President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, recently participated in a ceremony to release East Caucasian Turs, falcons, and over 32,000 carps, salmons, and rainbow trouts back into their natural habitats. The reintroduction project is aimed at restoring the water ecosystem and wildlife of the country, particularly in the recently liberated areas.
The President joined the release of East Caucasian Turs and falcons in the Lachin district, with the birds brought in from Qatar. The ceremony showcased the country’s commitment to wildlife conservation, with the President receiving a keepsake in honor of the occasion.
The President was also briefed on the progress of the third edition of the Red Book, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Great Leader, Heydar Aliyev. The hydrometeorological observation and environmental monitoring network was rebuilt and modernized after being destroyed during the years of occupation. The President was also provided with information about solid-waste management in the liberated areas.
Following the release of the birds, President Aliyev proceeded to inspect the progress of the construction of recreational resort cottages. The latest efforts are part of a bigger plan to redevelop the liberated lands and restore the region’s former glory.
The restoration and reintroduction projects are part of Azerbaijan’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its efforts to rebuild the liberated territories, which were under Armenian occupation for years. The country aims to restore the region’s natural ecosystems and rehabilitate the areas affected by decades of conflict.
