Retired Turkish Military Officer Esat Oktay Yıldıran’s Legacy
Esat Oktay Yıldıran, a Turkish military officer born on February 15, 1949, left a lasting legacy through his service in the Cyprus Peace Operation and his role as the Internal Security Commander in Diyarbakır Prison. Yıldıran held the position of security chief with the rank of captain at Diyarbakır E Type Military Prison from February 24, 1981, to 1983.
Following his duty in Diyarbakır Prison, Yıldıran was appointed to Istanbul where he served as a battalion commander with the rank of major in the Istanbul 23rd Infantry Division. However, his life was tragically cut short when he was assassinated on October 22, 1988. He was laid to rest in Edirnekapı Martyrdom, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to his country.
