Remembering Recai Kutan: The Saadet Party Founder’s Legacy and Battle with Illness

Recai Kutan, one of the founders of the Saadet Party, passed away at the age of 94. Born in Malatya in 1930, Kutan had a long and impressive career in politics and engineering.

Kutan completed his education in civil engineering at Istanbul Technical University and went on to work in various engineering roles, contributing to important projects such as the GAP – Southeastern Anatolia Project. He also served as a Minister of Construction and Settlement in the MC Coalition Government and as Minister of Energy and Natural Resources in the 54th Erbakan Government.

Throughout his political career, Kutan was involved in various parties such as the Welfare Party and the Virtue Party, eventually becoming the Founding Chairman of the Saadet Party. He also served as a Member of the High Advisory Board of the Saadet Party and Chairman of the Economic and Social Research Center (ESAM).
