Remembering the Victims: Coffins of 9 Lives Lost in Tragic Accident
Nine people who tragically lost their lives in a collision between a minibus and a concrete mixer in Gaziantep’s İslahiye district were laid to rest in a somber ceremony. The accident, which occurred on the İslahiye-Hatay highway, resulted in the deaths of 9 individuals, including students, and left 11 others injured.
The victims, identified as Şükrü Sağlam (71), Sena Taşkın (18), Sıdıka Ümran Yıldırım (15), Elif Görmez (17), Rakibe Erinmez (32), Sultan Erinmez (18), Sude Çelik (18), Hatice Günen (44), and Sibel Sağlam (18), were mourned by their loved ones and the community. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Yeşilyurt Mahallesi for burial after receiving the necessary religious approval.
A funeral prayer was held for the departed souls following the noon prayer, led by the Provincial Mufti Hüseyin Hazlar. The ceremony was attended by grieving family members, Deputy Minister of National Education Nazif Yılmaz, Gaziantep Governor Kemal Çeber, as well as teachers and students from local high schools where some of the victims attended.
Eight of the victims were laid to rest in the Yeşilyurt Neighborhood cemetery, while Sude Çelik’s body was buried in Esenler District. The community came together to bid farewell to the departed souls in a touching display of unity and solidarity during this difficult time.
