Renovation of 7 Train Stations Set to Begin in 2023
Renovation works and the expansion of several major train stations in Hungary are set to begin next year, according to a statement from the State-Foreway Railway Company MÁV on Friday. The Budapest Eastern, Western, South, and Kelenföld Train Stations, as well as stations in Debrecen, Győr, and Szeged, will undergo significant upgrades.
To facilitate these projects, separate business companies will be established to oversee the renovation works. These companies will handle tender procedures and eventually form joint ventures with the winning bidders. External investors will have the opportunity to acquire shares in these joint ventures, but they will not have access to state assets.
MÁV announced that the winners of the tenders will be announced later this year. The Construction and Transportation Ministry, along with MÁV, stated that new tenders are being called to take advantage of the increased interest and capabilities for development in comparison to previous processes.
