Renowned Cellist Miklós Perényi to Perform at Pannonhalma Abbey

World-renowned cellist Miklós Perényi is set to perform three of Johann Sebastian Bach’s cello suites at the St Martin Basilica at the Pannonhalma Abbey in north-west Hungary on April 11. The announcement was made by organizers on Saturday.

During the solo concert, Perényi will showcase Bach’s first three cello suites, including No.1 in G major, No.2 in D minor, and No.3 in C major.

Perényi, a prodigious talent, embarked on his musical journey at the Budapest Music Academy at the age of 7 and held his first concert at just 9 years old. Since 1974, he has been a distinguished teacher at the Academy. His repertoire spans various musical genres ranging from the baroque to 20th-century music. Perényi is the recipient of prestigious awards such as the Kossuth and Liszt Prizes. Notably, in 2005, his album featuring all of Beethoven’s works for cello, created in collaboration with pianist András Schiff, earned him the Cannes Classical Award.

Music enthusiasts and fans of classical music can look forward to experiencing Perényi’s exceptional talent as he performs Bach’s timeless cello suites at the historic St Martin Basilica at the Pannonhalma Abbey.
