Renowned Historian Feroz Ahmad Passes Away

Renowned historian and academic Dr. Feroz Ahmad has passed away at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of important research on the political history of Türkiye. Dr. Feroz Ahmad, an Indian American and Turkish historian, was born in Delhi in 1938. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Delhi University before furthering his education at the University of London. His doctoral dissertation on the Committee of Union and Progress in Turkish policy from 1908-1913 showcased his dedication to studying Turkish history.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ahmad held academic positions at prestigious institutions such as Columbia University, the University of Massachusetts, and Harvard University. He conducted research in both the UK and Turkey, further deepening his understanding of Turkish politics and history.

In recognition of his contributions to Turkish history, Dr. Ahmad was granted Turkish citizenship and began teaching at Yeditepe University after retiring from the University of Massachusetts. His commitment to scholarly excellence and passion for understanding Turkish history earned him the engagement of merit from President Abdullah Gül in 2014.

Dr. Ahmad’s colleague, Academician Behlül Özkan, announced the details of his funeral, which will be held at Bostancı Kuloğlu Mosque and followed by burial at Tuzla Şifa Cemetery.
