Request for Construction License Includes 1 Villa and 4 Apartments
Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has made significant progress in the investigation following the arrest of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) president and other suspects. The suspects are facing charges including being a part of a criminal organization, rushing, bribery, qualified fraud, and seizing personal data unlawfully.
During the course of the investigation, Adem Kameroğlu, a representative of a special company, provided testimony to the prosecutor’s office regarding his interactions with municipal officials. Kameroğlu revealed that in exchange for construction licenses, he was coerced to provide various luxuries, including a villa, to certain individuals associated with the municipality.
Furthermore, Kameroğlu stated that he was directed by one of the suspects to sponsor the Beylikdüzü Volleyball Team and to contribute financially to various projects, including a kindergarten that was built in the area. He also mentioned that he was pressured to surrender land to the municipality in order to obtain construction licenses.
Moreover, Kameroğlu described a situation where project managers were influenced by the suspects to give preferential treatment to certain individuals in construction projects. He claimed that he and other contractors in the region were victims of coercion and abuse of power by the municipality.
In conclusion, Kameroğlu emphasized that he had been unfairly targeted and manipulated by the suspects involved in the corruption scandal. The ongoing investigation aims to uncover the extent of the criminal activities and to ensure accountability for those responsible for abusing their positions of power.
