Coast Guard Rescues 22 Irregular Immigrants off the Coast of Ayvalık
A recent incident off the coast of Ayvalık has highlighted the dangers faced by irregular immigrants attempting to cross the Aegean Sea. The Coast Guard teams sprang into action after receiving a distress call about a rubber boat carrying irregular immigrants drifting due to engine failure.
The teams quickly mobilized and reached the area with the Coast Guard boat “KB-4510.” They were able to rescue 22 irregular immigrants, including 9 children, who were stranded on the rubber boat. The immigrants, who were reportedly trying to reach Lesbos Island illegally, were taken to the Provincial Directorate of Immigration Management after their rescue.
