Rescue of Two Fishermen Adrift in Elazığ Dam Lake
Two fishermen were rescued after their boat was dragged by strong winds in a dam lake in Yurtbaşı town in Elazığ.
Mehmet Ali Turgut and Çetin Eder were fishing when their boat was pulled into the dam lake by the powerful winds. Unable to approach the shore due to the rough waves and at risk of capsizing, the fishermen called for help from the gendarmerie.
After receiving the distress call, the gendarmerie, AFAD, and 112 Emergency Health teams were immediately dispatched to the area. A rescue operation lasting approximately 2.5 hours ensued, with the fishermen eventually being rescued and brought safely to shore with the assistance of a rescue boat from AFAD.
Following their ordeal, the fishermen, who were exposed to cold weather and strong winds, were treated by medical teams in an ambulance at the scene.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers fishermen can face while out at sea and the importance of quick and effective response from emergency services in such situations.
