Coast Guard rescues irregular migrants off the coast of Bodrum
A recent incident off the coast of Bodrum has highlighted the ongoing issue of irregular migration in the region. According to a statement from the Coast Guard Command, a Coast Guard boat was dispatched to the area after receiving information that a rubber boat carrying irregular migrants had experienced engine failure and was drifting off the coast of the district.
Upon arrival, the Coast Guard team successfully rescued 29 irregular migrants, including 10 children, from the stranded rubber boat. Additionally, another 18 irregular migrants, including 6 children, were apprehended on a fiber-hulled rubber boat intercepted by the Coast Guard boat in the same area.
The rescued migrants were subsequently handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Immigration Management for further processing. Incidents like these serve as a reminder of the risks faced by irregular migrants attempting dangerous sea crossings in pursuit of a better life.
