
Resolving Disputes in TRNC Requires Acknowledging Rights and Sovereignty

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Emphasizes the Importance of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
In a recent speech at the 15th Traditional Ambassadors’ Iftar held at the AK Party Conference Hall, Turkish President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted the significance of recognizing the rights, interests, and sovereign equality of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Erdoğan stated that as Turkey celebrates leaving behind the 100th anniversary of the Republic, it is moving forward with determination towards its goals for the construction of the Turkish Century. He also emphasized Turkey’s active contribution to peace and stability efforts in various regions, including Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, Gaza, and Ukraine, where the fight against terrorism, particularly PKK, PYD, FETO, and DAESH, continues.
The Turkish President clearly stated that Turkey will not allow the establishment of terrorism beyond its southern borders and called on friendly countries, especially allies, to show solidarity by cutting off support to separatist terrorist organizations.
Erdoğan also highlighted Turkey’s priority in maintaining stability in the South Caucasus and expressed hope for a new era in the region with the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Additionally, he addressed the ongoing tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean with Greece, emphasizing the importance of considering the rights, interests, and sovereign equality of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in finding a solution.
Furthermore, Erdoğan mentioned Turkey’s leadership in the NATO force in Kosovo and emphasized the significance of NATO as a cornerstone of security. He also noted that recent strategic meetings with Turkey’s NATO ally, the United States, have focused on developing cooperation and continuing to strive for membership in the European Union.
Overall, Erdoğan’s speech underscored Turkey’s commitment to regional stability, peace, and cooperation while advocating for the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in diplomatic efforts.
