Retired and Civil Servants Keep a Close Eye on Beştepe as Cabinet Meets Under Erdoğan’s Chairmanship
The cabinet meeting chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Beştepe after a month-long break has a busy agenda. Discussions are expected to focus on the 9th judicial package, civil servant and pension raises, as well as developments in domestic and foreign politics.
One of the main topics of the meeting will be the economy, with the June inflation rate announcement on July 3 determining the civil servant raise for the second half of the year. Approximately 16 million civil servants, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will also learn about their raise rates. Savings measures, the increase to the minimum retirement pension, the new tax draft, and the fight against inflation will be discussed as well.
Counter-terrorism operations and the latest status of the 9th Judiciary Package are also expected to be important discussions at the Cabinet meeting. Regional developments, including Israel’s attacks on Gaza and steps towards a ceasefire, will be on the agenda.
President Erdoğan is set to have a busy July with visits to Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and the United States. Relevant ministers will present their work on topics likely to be discussed during these visits to the Cabinet.
Newly appointed ministers Murat Kurum and Professor Doctor Kemal Memişoğlu are also attending the meeting. The District Governors’ Decree signed by President Erdoğan, as well as the first photos of the new cabinet, are also topics of interest.
