Retired Teacher Enjoys Stunning Views in Tiny 70-Square-Meter Home

Kepez Municipality recently conducted a cleaning operation in a house located in Teomanpaşa Neighborhood, following similar operations in Güneş, Hüsnü Karakaş, Yeşilyurt, and Esentepe. The house had become a dumping ground for garbage, emitting foul odors and attracting pests, prompting complaints from residents in the area. In response to these complaints, the Kepez District Governorship and the Health Board mandated the cleaning of the premises.

The cleaning operation, which involved personnel from Kepez Municipality’s Cleaning Services Department, Police Department, and local police teams, was overseen by Neighborhood Headman Hüseyin Demir. After several hours of intensive work, a truckload of household waste was removed from the 70-square-meter apartment belonging to 71-year-old İ.K.

The discarded items included moldy and insect-infested food, unusable items, plastic waste, and even a refrigerator that had not been opened in years. Upon opening the refrigerator, teams discovered rotting food items such as salami, which had become a breeding ground for insects. The overpowering smell and sight posed a challenge to the municipality teams during the cleaning process.

The Cleaning Services Department meticulously cleared out the house, one item at a time, before washing the premises with detergent water to restore hygiene. Additionally, the house was treated against pests by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality teams to prevent further infestations.

Neighborhood Headman Hüseyin Demir highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that residents had raised concerns about the noxious odors emanating from the house. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in addressing such issues and urged neighbors to report similar cases promptly.

The incident serves as a reminder of the critical role that local authorities and residents play in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within neighborhoods. Through collaborative efforts, communities can prevent the accumulation of waste and mitigate the risks associated with unsanitary conditions.
