Revelation from Shooter in Teacher Mahir’s Death Leaves Community Stunned
A shocking incident took place on the morning of June 26 in the Çayırova district of Turkey. Mahir Çoğaç, a vice principal at a local high school, was shot in the head and killed while sitting in his car outside his house. The suspect, who had been waiting across the street for about an hour, approached the vehicle, fired the fatal shot, and then fled the scene on foot. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Çoğaç could not be saved and was laid to rest in a ceremony at the school where he worked.
Following intense investigations by the Kocaeli Police Department, a total of 11 individuals were detained in three provinces – Kocaeli, Istanbul, and Adana. Among the suspects taken into custody, DG was identified as the triggerman responsible for the murder. The investigation revealed connections to a gang known as the ‘Bayğaralar Gang’ in Adana, with alleged orders for Çoğaç’s killing coming from this criminal organization.
DG, the triggerman, provided a detailed confession to the authorities, stating that the murder was orchestrated by two fugitives living in Greece, known as YA and DS. He explained the sequence of events leading up to the fatal shooting, including the arrangements made by the gang members and their escape plan following the incident.
