Revised Law on United Road and Traffic Offenses Approved by BRTK
In the General Assembly of the Republican Assembly, a new bill aimed at addressing road and traffic crimes was unanimously accepted. The “Combined Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Draft Law” and the “United Road Safety (Amendment) Draft” were discussed and approved during this session.
During the parliamentary session, Public Works and Transport Minister Erhan Arikli emphasized the importance of traffic safety and the need for effective measures to prevent accidents. He highlighted the role of law enforcement in controlling speeding, drunk driving, and other traffic offenses that contribute to road accidents.
Arıklı also mentioned that the new bill includes increased penalties for traffic offenses, as well as measures to improve road infrastructure and traffic management. The aim is to deter repeat offenders and enhance road safety through a combination of penalties and preventive measures.
Independent deputy Ayşegül Baybars expressed support for the bill, noting that it will serve as a deterrent against traffic accidents. She underscored the importance of comprehensive road safety measures, including infrastructure improvements, education, and regular inspections.
Baybars also called for additional steps to be taken to prevent accidents at secondary road exits and other high-risk areas. She emphasized the need for a holistic approach to road safety that includes public transportation improvements, better lighting, and education initiatives.
Overall, the new bill represents a step forward in addressing road and traffic crimes in the country. By combining stricter penalties with targeted prevention measures, lawmakers hope to enhance road safety and reduce the number of accidents on the country’s highways and roads.
