Reviving Equestrian Traditions: The National Gallop 2021

The National Gallop, the biggest amateur horse race in Central and Eastern Europe, is set to take place in Szilvásvárad, northern Hungary, from October 4 to 6 with exciting new updates.

One of the major changes for this year’s event is that it will now span three days instead of the usual two. The festivities will kick off with the Nemzetközi Rendőr Lovasverseny (“International Police Riding Competition”) at the Lipica Equestrian Center in Szilvásvárad on day zero.

Visitors can look forward to watching equestrian regiments and police forces from ten different countries as they compete in skill competitions. Additionally, HaZám Horse Court will showcase a children’s riding show for the first time, while the Gömör Horse and Folk Traditions Association will present a spectacular performance.

In 2024, participants under the age of 18 will have the opportunity to compete in two age groups: 10-13 and 14-17, allowing 17-year-olds to join in for the first time.

The international race of the National Gallop is expected to attract riders from all continents once again this year. Organizers have made the competition even more thrilling by shortening the distances.

The National Gallop is a traditional event that aims to celebrate Hungarian heritage and foster a sense of national pride. The focus is on horses, equestrian sports, and the cavalry of different eras. The event also serves as a platform for municipalities, communities, and individuals to showcase their equestrian skills and traditions.

Overall, the National Gallop is a unique event that brings together people from various backgrounds to celebrate Hungary’s rich equestrian culture and heritage. Don’t miss out on this exciting three-day spectacle in Szilvásvárad!
