Rising Interest in Gassal Profession: Growing Participation Trends
Intense interest in the profession after the TV series “Gassal”: Participation is increasing day by day
The TV series “Gassal” has sparked a new wave of interest in the profession in Elazığ. The gassalship courses that have been initiated are drawing in a growing number of participants, who are eager to learn both the theoretical knowledge and practical experience associated with the profession.
Organized in collaboration with the Elazığ Municipality and Public Education Center, the gassalship course has become a popular choice for many individuals. With the support of the Elazığ Municipality Cultural and Social Affairs and Cemeteries Directorates, the course has already attracted 32 participants who are keen to explore this unique profession.
Participants of the course are provided with theoretical training by master instructors at the Elazığ Municipality Economic Development Center (EBEGEM). They also have the opportunity to gain practical experience by working alongside male and female gassals from the Directorate of Cemeteries.
Melike Ülkü Yıldırım, one of the trainees, shared her reasons for choosing the gassal profession, stating that she was drawn to its spiritual nature. She emphasized the importance of being prepared to undertake the responsibilities associated with this profession, particularly in a region prone to earthquakes.
Deputy Mayor of Elazığ, Nazif Bilginoğlu, expressed his satisfaction with the increasing interest in the course and highlighted the importance of practicing the washing and shrouding processes according to Islamic methods. He also mentioned that participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the course.
Overall, the TV series “Gassal” has not only entertained audiences but has also inspired individuals to explore and appreciate the unique profession of gassalship. The increasing participation in the courses is a testament to the growing interest and importance of preserving this tradition.
