Road Closures in Nicosia for Peace and Freedom Day Rehearsal

On Sunday, some roads in Nicosia will be closed to traffic as part of the ceremonial rehearsal for the upcoming 49th anniversary of the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day. This information was announced by the Police Press Officer.

The affected road route between “Honda Traffic Lights Junction, Altınbaş Petrol Traffic Lights Junction, and Gonyeli Circle” will be closed to traffic until the end of the ceremony rehearsal. This closure is necessary to ensure the smooth execution of the rehearsal and subsequent commemorative events.

Alternative transportation arrangements have been made to minimize inconvenience for drivers during the closure. According to the statement, drivers headed to the Organized Industrial Zone can use Altınbaş Petrol Traffic Lights Junction or Atatürk Stadium Circle for transportation.

For those coming from Famagusta and wishing to reach the Near East University, transportation will be provided via the Near East Boulevard through the Nicosia North Ring Road.

Drivers from Famagusta intending to enter Nicosia city can turn left at Hamitköy Circle, cross Mimar Mehmet Vahip Street, and Şht. İsmail Beyoğlu Street or Honda Traffic Lights. They can then reach their destination via Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Street.

Similarly, drivers from Famagusta heading to Güzelyurt can choose between the Gonyeli Circle route through the Nicosia North Ring Road or the Metehan-Alayköy Ring Road via the Citroen Traffic Lights junction on Nicosia Mehmet Akif Caddesi.

For drivers coming from Güzelyurt and heading to Nicosia, they can use the Alayköy-Metehan Ring Road or Gönyeli Circle and Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital) for transportation.

Lastly, drivers from Kyrenia who want to reach Nicosia can take either the Boğazköy-Dikmen road and continue through the Nicosia Organized Industrial Zone via Altınbaş Petrol Traffic Lights Junction or use the Kyrenia-Nicosia Main Road and Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Street (State Hospital) as their route.

These transportation arrangements aim to ensure that drivers can reach their destinations with minimal disruption during the road closures.

Please note that this information is subject to change, and it is recommended to stay updated on any updates or additional instructions provided by the authorities. Stay safe and plan your journeys accordingly.
