Sami Er: A Life of Service and Dedication
Sami Er, born in 1963 in Malatya, has dedicated his life to public service and professional development. Starting his education in his hometown, Er completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Malatya, before pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Engineering, graduating in 1989. He then went on to obtain a master’s degree in Urban Studies and Management (Urban Transformation) from Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, Institute of Science and Technology, Department of Architecture.
Er’s professional career began in 1989, working as an Engineering and Quality Control Manager at Ümran Boru San. Tic. A.Ş., before serving as a Control Engineer at the Ministry of National Defense Diyarbakır Construction Real Estate Department and the Beykoz Göksu Houses project. His career in public administration began in 2004 when he took on the role of Director of Science and Development Planning at Istanbul Büyükçekmece Yakuplu Municipality, followed by serving as Deputy Mayor of Fatih and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Halktaş A.Ş.
In 2008, Er was appointed as the General Secretary of Malatya Special Provincial Administration, where he also served as a member of the board of partners of Esenlik company and a member of the Organized Industry Board of Directors. His dedication to public service continued as he took on the role of Deputy Mayor of Financial Affairs and Investments of Istanbul Üsküdar Municipality from 2011 to 2014. Er has also been involved in various foundations and associations, serving as a founder and member of the board of trustees.
From 2014 to 2019, Er served as Vice President of the Prime Ministry Mass Housing Administration and a board member of Emlak Konut GYO, showcasing his commitment to urban development and housing projects. After the 2019 Local Government Elections, he was appointed as the Deputy Mayor of Fatih Municipality, where he continues to serve to this day.
Now 61 years old, Sami Er is married and the father of four children. His journey of service and dedication to public administration and urban development has left a lasting impact on the communities he has served, and he continues to be an influential figure in local government.
