“Scuffle Erupts During Muhittin Insect’s Visit to Traders”
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Insect was recently on a street visit to meet the shopkeepers along with his group. However, he was met with a negative reaction from a group of people as he passed by the stands of the AK Party and MHP. A quarrel broke out between the group next to President Insect and the other group, although it was soon calmed down. Later, Insect and his entourage left the area.
Following the incident, Mayor Insect made a statement about it. He said, “We are not going to war, we are going to elections. There is democracy, and everyone will use their rights. I am really sorry.” It is unclear what sparked the altercation or what exactly was said during the confrontation.
Political tensions are running high across Turkey ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, and incidents such as this only add fuel to the fire.
