Secretary Potápi: National Cohesion Achieved in the Last 14 Years

The state secretary responsible for policies regarding Hungarian communities abroad recently stated that the enhanced feeling, awareness, and experience of national cohesion is the most significant achievement of the past 14 years. Árpád János Potápi made this statement on the occasion of the national holiday on August 20.
During the celebration, Potápi presented the Kallós Zoltán Award for Hungarians Abroad to individuals and organizations that have made significant efforts on behalf of Hungarian communities outside the country. He emphasized that national cohesion, which is crucial for the national identity, is primarily demonstrated through cooperation in fulfilling tasks and celebrating successes.
“We, as Hungarians, come together to share burdens in difficult times and multiply our happiness in moments of celebration,” Potápi highlighted.
The recipients of the Kallós Zoltán Award, who are community builders, organizers, political figures, cultural influencers, and religious leaders, serve as examples of promoting unity and cohesion within the Hungarian communities abroad.
The recognition ceremony took place in the context of ongoing challenges faced by Hungarian communities living outside the country. One recent incident involved the assault of a 15-year-old Hungarian sportsman in Romania simply for his nationality, sparking outrage.
As the Hungarian government continues to prioritize the well-being and unity of Hungarian communities abroad, the efforts of individuals and organizations recognized with the Kallós Zoltán Award demonstrate the significance of collaboration and solidarity in maintaining national cohesion.
