Sector Offers Full Support to Ministry of Commerce’s $8 Billion E-Export Target
The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) President Mustafa Gultepe recently made a statement expressing ambitious goals for Türkiye’s exports. Gultepe emphasized the importance of increasing e-exports and setting a target to raise the country’s position in the top 10 exporting countries.
With the global trend shifting towards e-commerce, Gultepe highlighted the rapid increase in the share of e-export in total exports. He mentioned that Türkiye aims to reach $5 billion in e-exports by 2023 and increase it further to at least $8 billion this year. The long-term goal is to reach $37.5 billion in e-exports by 2028.
To support this growth, Gultepe emphasized the need for infrastructure development, including the establishment of an e-export secretariat within TIM and the organization of an e-export trade committee. Public support and legislative infrastructure were also crucial in accelerating the trend in e-exports.
Hakan Çevikoğlu, President of the Electronic Commerce Operators Association, noted Türkiye’s strong position in global exports and the positive growth trend in export performance. He highlighted the fierce competition in international e-commerce and the importance of government support in strengthening Turkish companies’ position in the global market.
Marketplaces play a significant role in facilitating access to global markets at a low cost, allowing Türkiye to increase its competitive advantage in global trade. Companies like Hepsiburada and Trendyol are supporting the government’s targets for increasing e-exports and expanding international business opportunities for Turkish sellers.
Overall, the focus on e-exports and the digital economy transformation in Türkiye reflects a strategic approach towards enhancing the country’s position in the global market and driving economic growth through online commerce. The collaboration between the government, industry associations, and e-commerce platforms will play a crucial role in achieving these ambitious goals.
