Fathers of Children Who Died in Adıyaman Building Earthquake Fight for Justice
The fathers of children who tragically lost their lives in the Isias Hotel building collapse in Adıyaman during the earthquake on February 6 shared their experiences and desires for justice. They explained that they are not seeking anything for themselves, their only goal is to fight for justice for their children and to contribute to education and children.
Recalling the court proceedings, the fathers expressed their displeasure with the casual and unscrupulous attitude of the defendants during the hearings. They have emphasized the need for possible intent to be considered in the case.
After the four-day hearing at the Adıyaman 3rd High Criminal Court, an interim decision was made that some defendants would continue to be detained while others were released under judicial control. The next hearing is scheduled to take place on April 26, 2024.
The founding members of the Champion Angels Keeping Alive Association along with the fathers of the children who perished in the disaster shared their observations regarding the court proceedings and expressed their hopes for a fair trial and severe punishment for those responsible.
The fathers expressed their determination and dedication to seeking justice for their children and contributing to educational causes. They revealed that they do not have any personal plans for the future and that their only goal is to fight for justice for their children.
The Champion Angels Keeping Alive Association has undertaken various initiatives to commemorate and honor the memory of the children who lost their lives in the tragedy. A series of events are planned to take place in Famagusta on the first anniversary of the earthquake. These events include a commemoration ceremony, a commemoration event, and the reading of a mawlid for the Champion Angels.
The fathers and members of the association remain committed to their cause and seek to ensure that justice is served for their children and other victims of the tragic earthquake.
