Senior Official Killed in Last Minute Vehicle Explosion in Moscow

The Russian press has reported that a high-ranking official, Vice President of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed in an explosion in the Balashikha region of Moscow. The deceased has been identified as Yaroslav Moskalic, who served as the Vice President of the Deputy Chairman of the Directorate of Operations.
Initial reports suggest that the bomb, which was placed in Moskalik’s parked vehicle, was detonated remotely. Moskalic was passing by the car at the time of the explosion. An investigation into the incident has been launched to determine the cause and motive behind the attack.
This incident bears a striking resemblance to a similar assassination that took place last December. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, President of the Russian Armed Forces Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Union, and his assistant were killed in a similar manner. Attackers planted a handmade bomb near the entrance of the building where General Kirillov lived, which was detonated remotely as soon as they exited the building.
Details surrounding the recent explosion in Moscow are still emerging. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
