Seven Arrested in Izmir Criminal Operation Bust
An operation was carried out by the teams of the Organized Crime Branch Directorate and the Intelligence Branch Directorate, under the coordination of the Tire Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, against an organized crime group led by Refik Çalışkan, known as Genç Osman, who is currently in prison.
The operation targeted the group’s involvement in crimes related to gambling, usury, and plunder in the districts of Tire, Bayındır, Ödemiş, and Kiraz. A total of 17 suspects were detained during the operation and subsequently taken to the courthouse after the necessary procedures at the police station.
Following the judicial process, 7 of the suspects were arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace, while the remaining 10 were released under courthouse control measures. The authorities are continuing their efforts to combat organized crime and ensure the safety and security of the region.
