Ship on Girne-Taşucu Route Returns to Port Due to Malfunction
The ship named ‘Beşparmak’ of Fleet Shipping Company faced technical issues during its voyage from Girne to Taşucu. The ship broke down approximately 20 miles off the Girne Tourism Port, prompting the captain to return to Kyrenia for passenger and vehicle evacuation.
Upon detecting an electrical fault while at sea, the captain promptly informed the company, leading to the decision to return to the nearest port for safety reasons. The company spokesperson emphasized that the safety of passengers was their top priority, and proper evacuation procedures were followed.
The return journey to Kyrenia took 5 hours due to the malfunction, but all passengers were safely evacuated. Following breakfast service, passengers were to be transported to Taşucu by sea buses, while their vehicles would be taken by the company’s Ro-Ro ships.
Despite the inconvenience caused by the technical issue, the company ensured the well-being of its passengers and successfully managed the situation. Passengers can expect to reach their destination via alternative transportation arranged by Fleet Shipping Company.
