Ambulance Scandal: Patient Dies After Ambulance Stops to Change Driver
A shocking incident has been reported by Kanal D Haber, revealing a grave claim of negligence. The scandalous incident occurred when an ambulance stopped to change the driver instead of rushing the patient to the hospital. The son of the patient, Yavuzhan Gunes, who witnessed the unacceptable situation, stated, “When asked why he stopped, they said it was for the change of the driver.”
The incident took place in Esenler, Istanbul, when Yavuzhan Gunes called for an ambulance to rush his mother, Seyhan Gunes, who was suffering from an illness. The young man expressed that his mother had complained of a heart attack and needed immediate medical attention.
However, instead of heading towards the hospital, the ambulance deviated from the route and started roaming the streets. Yavuzhan Gunes was bewildered by the unexpected behavior of the ambulance until he finally decided to get off the vehicle.
“They closed the sirens, turned off the lights of the entire ambulance, and wandered around the streets for 20 minutes,” recounted Yavuzhan Gunes, expressing his disbelief at the situation.
As a result of this negligence, the patient’s condition deteriorated, and she was later admitted to intensive care. Unfortunately, Seyhan Gunes passed away four months after the incident, leaving her family devastated.
Following this tragic event, Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate initiated an investigation into the matter. The Ministry of Health also intervened and allowed the investigation to proceed, aiming to hold those responsible for the patient’s death accountable.
The untimely death of Seyhan Gunes serves as a stark reminder of the importance of timely and efficient emergency medical services. This incident highlights the need for stricter regulations and better oversight to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
