Shocking One-Day Earnings: Thousands of Liras Pour from Beggar’s Pocket!

Elazığ Municipality Police Department teams recently conducted an operation targeting beggars in collaboration with the local police force. The operation aimed to apprehend beggars who were known to frequent mosque fronts and areas with high foot traffic.
During the operation, the teams successfully apprehended several beggars and brought them to a police checkpoint for further inspection. One of the beggars was found to be carrying a staggering amount of 10,780 Turkish Liras. Upon verifying the amount, the teams confiscated the money in accordance with the law on misdemeanors.
Elazığ Municipality Police Chief Kadir Temur provided details about the operation, stating, “Today, during the beggar operation conducted in coordination with the Provincial Police Department teams, we apprehended an individual begging on Gazi Street. Subsequent body searches revealed the possession of 10,780 liras on the individual.”
Chief of Police Temur further emphasized the importance of not supporting such individuals who exploit the religious sentiments of the public for financial gain. He highlighted that the beggar in question managed to earn 10,780 liras in just one day, urging citizens to redirect their assistance towards those genuinely in need.
The shocking revelation of the beggar’s daily earnings has sparked discussions among the community, with Chief of Police Temur shedding light on the stark contrast between the beggar’s income and that of a minimum wage worker in a month. This incident serves as a reminder for citizens to be vigilant and discerning in their charitable efforts, ensuring that their support reaches those most deserving.
