Shooting at Çağlayan Courthouse Leaves Dead and Injured
Armed attack at Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul, 2 killed
An armed attack took place in front of Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul, creating a conflict at the scene. A large number of police teams were dispatched to the region, and entrances and exits to the courthouse were closed as reported by Milliyet.com.tr reporter, Damla Güler.
Police Chief Public Prosecutor Şaban Yılmaz along with deputy chief prosecutors, investigated the scene. Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya, stated that 2 attackers, 1 man, 1 woman, were captured dead in the attack. They were members of the DHKP/C terrorist organization. The attackers were neutralized, and 3 were killed by the police. Six people were injured in the attack, including three citizens.
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç condemned the attack and said an investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Footage of the attempted armed attack and the neutralization of the attackers was revealed.
AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik also condemned the attack and praised the police for their courageous actions, wishing a speedy recovery to those injured in the attack.
