Sibel Tatar Attends “24th Congress” and Eco Day Event in Cyprus
Sibel Tatar, the wife of President Ersin Tatar, recently participated in the “24th Congress” organized by Mehmetçik Büyükkonuk Municipality in Northern Cyprus. She also took part in the “Traditional Eco Day” event as part of the festivities.
During the event, Sibel Tatar attended the festival’s opening ceremony, visited various stands set up for the occasion, and engaged in conversations with the local citizens. One of the highlights of her visit was the stand showcasing the “Rebirth of Silk in Northern Cyprus” project.
This project, spearheaded by Sibel Tatar and initiated in Akçay under the Presidency’s auspices, aims to revive the silk industry in Northern Cyprus. The second phase of the project has been implemented in Pamuklu village in Mehmetçik Büyükkonuk Municipality. Once the silk cocoons harvested from silkworms are transformed into silk, the resulting products will be sold under the brand name “Kozada”.
Sibel Tatar’s presence at the event underscored the importance of preserving traditional crafts and promoting sustainable practices in Northern Cyprus. The “Rebirth of Silk in Northern Cyprus” project is a testament to the region’s rich cultural heritage and the efforts being made to revitalize its silk industry.
